Literature Text

Ashes falling like snow
drifting black and deep
drifts blown by
prevailing winds
oh the tears
we shed
and wounds
we bear so deep
Our world leaden
dripped in cold dead stone
we look to humming powerlines
and think all is well
we've nothing to
atone.
Where shines the hope of
children, sick from cancerous
blight. Where in a world
of misery, have you, or I
shed hope's light?
Walk in shadow,
live in shadow
die in shadow
to a ashen grave interned.
Shall we hasten to our final
beds, or look up to the last
living bird.
Sing of violence and hate,
doesn't matter in the culture
of music of crime and rape.
Scream till your deaf, and dumb,
no one will listen curl up
suck your thumb.
No tears left to wash away
the ash upon your face.
You burned it all up,
your hair, your eyes, your lungs
all for sweet technology, that
ate your  kidneys before it was
done. Fire and lightning
harnessed true, are we its
master, am I? Are you?
Or does it master us,
askew
in this mad world
we've build on broken dreams
tossed on the bonfire
shattered on the pyre
bones cracking from the heat and heap
and burdens and ire
and never relenting one moment
from birth to death
from womb to grave.
Look out world here we come,
used up, before we're here.
Old, tired, dead, damned
is that what we have left
here? Our mark
on the world
more ash?
Can we make something
better, or is all just smoke
in that last final gasp?

Whose to blame?

Does it matter.

You.

Me.

Everyone.

All Three.

What to do, when dreams decay
Not tomorrow.
Not soon.

But right now today.
Dark Reflection on our world as it stands.

One of the most haunting poems I have read in a very long time. And something that I think many should pay a lot of attention to. There's more than just a point in rhyme here , folks. It can't be a warning exactly if we're already knee deep in it.

Very kudos, Silverlion.
